Saul of Tarsus, son of Benjamin Part 10

Last week we ended our decisions on 1st Timothy with Chapter 3, this week we wish to continue where we left off.

In the first part of Chapter 4 we see Saul, expressing his belief of things that will come about in the future of the Church. We have chosen to address the topic of the Kosher Laws Saul addresses in verses 3, 4, and 5 about the animals which are clean vs. those that Adonai (The Lord God Most High) deemed unclean in the 613 Mitzvoth.

It is our belief that Adonai (The Lord God Most High) deemed those animals to be unclean for the safety and health of his people. To make there lives longer and keep then from the diseases that these animals carry, thus alleviating premature death of the people of Israel. We really need to expand on our thoughts here we are not saying that the Law doesn’t apply, but what we are saying is that they should only eat those foods they could trust in a non static desert environment. Take the example of matzo or unleavened bread. Yeast is a bacteria which can cause infections and in certain conditions death, and can also cause otherwise good liquids to become alcohol. Alcohol can be extremely dangerous in the desert.

Next take a look at Chapter 4:13, He tells Timothy to continue the public reading of the Scriptures, This means that he has been receiving all these questions based on the Torah Scriptures which he is preaching on, please make no mistake he is not telling him to read the New Testament Scriptures as they were not in existence at the time. Again Saul is leading Timothy to continue teaching about and from the Torah. Through Saul’s mentoring of the younger Timothy he is leading him through Oral Talmud traditions that are still followed by Rabbi’s to this day, that Gentiles are absolved from following the 613 Mitzvoth of Torah (Written Law). While as we have pointed out several times in Numbers 15:15-16, God was pretty explicit that there is only one law For Jew as well as Gentile who offer burnt offerings before him.

In Chapter 5 it gets a little perplexing Saul deals with a question about Widows. What is so perplexing about this is that only within the 613 Mitzvoth of Torah does it require the community to care for the needs of the Widow. So why does Saul make such a point about this subject since to Saul the Gentiles were not required to follow the same 613 Mitzvoth in the Torah which he has made such arguments against Peter for his belief, and Saul’s insistence that Gentile followers of Jesus only need to follow the 7 Noahide Laws. The perplexing thing is that the Noahide Law says absolutely nothing about caring for the Widows. The fact is even the Noahide Laws can only be found in the Talmud (Oral Law) and again holds to our point that even though the Talmud may not have been a written document at the time is was well taught as the Oral Law and the Holy interpretations of the Torah.

To us this is yet but one more example of Saul’s elitists Jewish teachings and even to this day current Jewish theology that Gentiles only need to follow these 7 Noahide Laws to be considered righteous, while ignoring the verses in Numbers 15:15-16. To us why even respond this way to any question of caring for the Widow, if those Laws never apply to Gentiles anyway. Why not just tell them that it doesn’t apply to them, as Saul did concerning the commandment for circumcision.
